Go For Gold Team India MBCT Hockey Nursery celebrated the “The Olympic Spirit” at Bassi Pathana. Best wishes to the Indian Olympic contingent comprising 118 players, those are representing India.
The program was attended by the chief guest Mr. ManinderPal Singh (Director Co-operate Society village Kaloundi), other dignitaries includes Mr Pritpal Singh Dharni, MBCT Hockey Nursery Coaches Mr. Tejinder Singh (Chief hockey coach), Mr. Wazir Chand (Rtd. Deputy Director, Sports, PSPCL), Mr. Harnek Singh, Mr. K.K. Banda, parents of MBCT hockey nursery players and young rural hockey nursery players. MBCT Hockey Nursery trainees were told about the importance of hard training, sincerity and dedication to achieve unbeatable rank in the game. Every trainee was encouraged to watch the Olympics games on TV with special focus on hockey matches to learn new and international level tips. The experts informed the trainees about origin of Olympics- the Ancient and the Modern Olympics.
Mr. Tejinder Singh, MBCT Chief Hockey Coach delivered lecture on “India in Olympics”. An audio-visual Presentation about Olympics games was also given with special reference to Indian players and teams. To encourage the MBCT Hockey Nursery players Mr. Wazir Chand emphasized on hard work and training to achieve top level performance in the game. A Sports Quiz Competition was also organized to encourage the young players to keep themselves updated with the required knowledge about the game of Hockey all other games being played at the Olympics. Mr. Harnek Singh, MBCT Hockey coach hosted the quiz.
Closing Ceremony of MBCT Summer Hockey Camp 2016.
The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. HS Bhullar IPS, SSP Fatehgarh Sahib and the Guest of Honour was Brig. J S Arora, Director, Sainik Welfare, Chandigarh. The day started early at 6.30am with over 150 young players assembling at ITI Hockey Grounds, Bassi Pathana. They carried out stretching exercises, hurdles, sprinting and practiced the Golden a hockey yardsticks of Hockey Olympian Sardar Balbir Singh Senior. Thereafter at 9.0am on the arrival of the Guest of Honour Brig. J S Arora, there was the introduction of the hockey players of Ropar Govind Valley Team and MBCT Boys Senior Team.
The Chief Guest arrived at 9.30 am, he was also introduced to the Teams. The Home Team defeated the Ropar Govind Valley Team 1-0. The second match was between Fatehgarh Niuwan Girls Team and MBCT Girls Senior Team, the MBCT Girls Team won 2-0.
Mr. HS Bhullar, IPS, SSP Fatehgarh Sahib, appreciated the efforts of MBCT in providing such great facilities to the rural children aged 4-14 years learning the skills of Hockey and was amazed at the success of MBCT Hockey Nursery in having sent more than 35 children to professional Hockey Training institutes like SAI Chandigarh, SAI Patiala, Army Sports School Bangalore, Punjab Sports School, Ghudda, Bhatinda and other SAI affiliated academies.
Brig. JS Arora commended the MBCT hockey coaches for their dedication, he was highly impressed by the hockey skills and techniques being applied by the players in the field, he conveyed that never before he has seen such young players some barely 4 years old and they handled the hockey stick in a perfect manner, he congratulated the coaches and the Trust for this novel endeavour. From his side he made an announcement of contributing 25 hockey sticks and complete kit for the players.
The Chief Guest Mr. H S Bhullar gave away the Shining Star Trophy to Sonali Walia and Ravneet Singh. They were selected by a selection Team comprising of hockey coaches Mr. Tejinder Singh, Mr. Wazir Chand and Mr. Hansraj Chabra. The selection criteria was Best Girl throughout the year 2015-16 and 2014-15. This Trophy is sponsored by Mr. Balraj Singh Mejie, CMD, PCP Int'l Limited and is instituted in the memory of Late Smt. Harbaksh Kaur Mejie.
Mr. Hassan S Mejie thanked the Chief Guest Mr. HS Dhillon for his support and for his presence today at the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Hockey Camp 2016. He also thanked the parents of the hockey players, The members of the Print media and the Hockey coaches, Referees and the sponsors of the event. He thanked the MBCT Staff especially those engaged with the organisation and execution of this seven days event for their Herculean efforts in making this event a great success. Mr. Mejie declared a one week holiday forthe hockey players and the coaches, which was met with a spontaneous and shrill THANK YOU SIR from all the 150 odd hockey players assembled at the Closing Ceremony.
Mehar Baba Charitable Trust (MBCT) Hockey Nursery is a novel 'Holistic Development' project the children in the age group 4 to 14 yrs. In Addition to regular daily training, the Trust organises intensive half-yearly camps to help these young players from other academies to hone their game skills and practise techniques and tactics under the expert guidence of International/National Coaches and Professional Players.
MBCT Hockey Nursery Update 29 April, 2016
The Army Service Corps (ASC ) Bangalore held a Hockey Pre-selection trials to select players for the Boys Sports Company of Army Service Corps (ASC), Bangalore. The trials began at 8.00am and 30 hockey players attended the Trials held at ITI Grounds, Bassi Pathana. Hockey Coach Mr Varun Balwan of ASC Bangalore and Sh. Tejinder Singh from Patiala took the Trials. A total of nine players were shortlisted and 6 were from MBCT Hockey Nursery. The pre selected players will be travelling to Banagalore for the Final Trials which will be conducted in Bangalore from 6th to 9th June of 2016. MBCT Hockey Players selected are Karamjeet Singh, Ishveer Singh, Harman Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Didar Singh and Sharanjeet Singh.
District level games under-16 RAJIV GANDHI KHEL ABHIYAN
District level games under-16 RAJIV GANDHI KHEL ABHIYAN were held on 29th September at BBSBeC (Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College) Fatehgarh Sahib. Players from MBCT Hockey Nursery took part in various events and brought laurels to the Nursery and their respective Blocks.The Final of the Girls Hockey teams between Sheedgarh and Fatehgarh Niuan and the Fatehgarh Niuan defeated Sheedgarh by 2-1 goals.
Patiala Hockey games under-19
September 11th to 13th, 2015, Patiala Hockey organised the Under19 Girls State Championship which saw 11 Punjab Districts participate. It gives MBCT immense satisfaction and pride that the Winners, District Patiala Team consisted of five MBCT Hockey Nursery Alumni viz. Sumanpreet Kaur, Pallavi, Sonali Walia, Amritpal Kaur & Varjinder Kaur. The Bathinda District Hockey Team which stood 4th had 5 MBCT Hockey Nursery Alumni Manpreet Kaur, Mudrika, Gurjeet Kaur, Charu & Navneet.
