Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) - a Federal Government of Canada Fund has selected this year Mehar Baba Charitable Trust Bassi Pathana, Punjab, India - MBCT’s project

“Digital Empowerment of Rural Women of Punjab”. INUS Global Charity USA is the international partner. The project aims at increasing the social status and decision making power of Rural Women Artisans of Punjab.

This project is to cover 50 villages in the district of Fatehgarh Sahib and impact over 500 rural women artisans. Project highlight is to develop digital platforms, online training model for vocational skills and hands on experience on using e-commerce platforms for the rural women at grassroot level.

This is the second MBCT project to be awarded CFLI grant for NGOs in India. The first was in 2015 “ Primary Prevention of Violence against Women & Early/Forced Marriage - JAGO. This speaks volumes in recognition of the capacity of MBcT in executing rural community based projects. Hassan Singh Mejie, Managing Trustee.
